TM 101 Tribal Management - 3 credits
This course will focus on basic management and organizational principles of tribal governments.  Topics will include a thorough coverage of the functions of management within the tribal reservations, tribal councils and tribal casinos and other business ventures.

 

TM 102 Tribal Law and Government - 3 credits
This course will examine reservation government and government-to-government relationships.  It will include jurisdiction in Indian Country, state tribal relations, tribal governing structures, etc.

 

TM 103 Cultural/Historical Preservation - 3 credits
This course will focus on development of management skills to preserve tribal historic and cultural resources.

 

TM 104 Federal Laws and the American Indian - 3 credits
This course will examine the history of the United States Government's relationship with American Indian people, as reflected in federal laws.  Issues and topics covered included sovereignty, treaties, U.S. Supreme Court case law and federal statutes, how contemporary issues and court decisions affect present day situations.

 

TM 105 Casino Operations and Management - 3 credits
This course will explore the principles of gaming operations and management, gaming regulation and control, legal aspects of the Indian gaming industry, communication and management skills for gaming, casino accounts and internal control.

 

TM 200 Personal, Tribal and Community Health Management - 3 credits
This course will focus on major issues in Indian health.  American Indians have a high percentage in deaths related to cancer, diabetes, and heart related problems.  It will focus on personal, tribal and community health in the Indian community.  This course will focus on awareness and preventive measures and the institutions responsible.

 

TM 201 People and the Environmental Issues - 3 credits
This course will examine issues surrounding housing and natural resources on reservations.  These areas are critical to address in developing a viable plan for reservation economic development.

 

TM 202 Internship - 3 credits
The students will have one semester of internship.  Focusing on Tribal Management.

 

TM 205   Grant Writing - 3 credits
This course teaches the basic fundamentals of developing a proposal, grant or contract for fundraising purposes. Students explore various types of fundraising sources and learn effective proposal management skills to include program development, budgeting and reporting.
