An introduction to the concept of Entrepreneurship, the act of managing a
business enterprise where financial risk is involved. Includes marketing, financing,
management, legal requirements and career opportunities. This course is the
prerequisite for all other Small Business Management courses.

This course is an introduction to the nature and scope of retailing in a
market economy. Includes the retail environment, goals and objectives, the retail
customer, channel behavior, legality, promotions, customer services and retail selling.

A course that provides coverage on the foundations of business economics,
concepts and contemporary issues that arise in business today. Includes the global
business market, the business environment and structure, and marketing and management
principles.

This course explores the principles and functions of advertising in the
marketing economy; includes considerations of newspaper, magazine, radio, television, and
other media with emphasis on appropriate advertising for the small business.

A basic course on the principles and psychology of selling; includes
techniques and human relations in the selling situation, product knowledge, understanding
and analyzing the consumer, and investigating the competition.

203 Human Resources Management - 3 credits |
An introduction to management of human resource principles with
traditional personnel and labor relations philosophies; includes management perspective,
requirements, developing effectiveness, implementing compensation and security, creating a
productive work environment, and strengthening employee-management relations.

A course that explores the law and the judicial system; includes ethics,
contracts, sales and consumer protection, employment contracts, business documents,
partnerships and corporations, real property, insurance, mortgages, credit, bankruptcy,
estates, and government regulations.

290 Special Topics (Online course) - 3 credits |
Students will explore traditional values and their relevance to the 21 st
century in a workshop setting. Students will learn how to put these values into practice to manage
and lead a successful WIA program that can impact the lives of employees, customers, and Native
American communities, wherever they are found in America. Then, with use of the Internet, students
will be linked together to achieve the desired Work Force Investment Act and DINAP program goals
and objectives.
