OT 101 Keyboarding I - 3 credits
This course is designed to help students develop strong keyboarding skills along with basic word processing, and general computer applications. The course utilizes Keyboarding Pro MultiMedia and Microsoft Word 2000 software. (F,S)

 

OT 102 Keyboarding II - 3 credits (prerequisite OT 101)
This course is designed to help students develop strong keyboarding, word processing, and formatting skills they will need for communicating and working. The course utilizes CheckPro 2000 and Microsoft Word 2000 software. (F,S)

 

OT 104 Beginning Accounting - 3 credits
The course covers the basic accounting cycle for a service and business. Included is the analysis of business transactions, recording transactions in a general journal, preparation of a work sheet, financial statements and end-of-period closing. (F,S)

 

OT 106 Automated Accounting I - 3 credits (prerequisite OT 104)
The use of computer software to record Cycle I on a computer accounting system. This will included the financial statements, worksheet, recording transaction in a general journal, special journals, bank reconciliation, petty cash, and end-of-period closing transactions. (F,S)

 

OT 110 Business Math - 3 credits
This course will teach skills necessary for solving business problems using a variety of calculator tools. The course has both the traditional desktop calculator and computer calculator software. (F,S)

 

OT 115 Word Processing Applications - 3 credits
(prerequisite OT 101 or instructor permission)
This course presents the theory of a word processing program using Microsoft Word 2000 to teach creating, editing, manipulating, and formatting techniques. (F,S)

 

OT 119 Office Procedures - 3 credits
The class will enable the student to develop the necessary skills to operate and function as an efficient office worker and to develop the necessary skills to communicate and provide administrative support in an office environment. (S)

 

OT 125 Records Management - 3 credits
Training in the development of skills in preperation, storage, and retrieval of records using the ARMA simplified filing rules. Filing rules covered will include: numeric, alphabetic, subject and geographical filing rules. This course will utilize hands on work with both manual filing and computer software.

 

OT 130 Medical Office Procedures - 3 credits
Training to be medical office assistants and perform administrative functions using MediSoft software in advanced patient accounting. Students learn to input patient information, schedules, and appointments, handle billing, produce lists and reports, and process insurance claims on forms and electronically.

 

OT 204 Accounting I - 3 credits (prerequisites OT 104 or instructor permission)
Comprehensive analysis of accounting theory and concepts with analysis of transactions related to partnerships, inventory methods, receivables and payables; current and contingent liabilities, plant and intangible assets, corporate organizations; income statements, balance sheets. (F,S)

 

OT 206 Database Applications - 3 credits  
Database Applications is an application course designed to master Microsoft Access 2000 software in a step-by-step format covering Access features that are likely to be used in both personal and professional life. (F,S,SU)

 

OT 209 Advanced Word Processing - 3 credits
(prerequisite OT 101, OT 102, OT 115 or instructor permission)
Advanced Word Processing is a course utilizing the MS Word 2000 software. The Level 2 Expert course includes the instruction and use of desktop publishing and graphics. The course also includes fields, mail merge, macros, advanced tables and charts as well as working with long documents (indexes, outlines, table of contents) and the final phase of hyperlinks and web pages. OT 210 Automated Accounting II - 3 credits
(prerequisite OT 104, OT 106, OT 204 or instructor permission)
This course is designed for the student to continue the operation of software for accounting including Accounting Systems Setup and the use of Cycle 2 in Accounting on a computer. (F,S)

 

OT 211 Desktop Publishing - 3 credits
(prerequisite OT 209 or instructor permission)
Introduces Desktop Publishing utilizing PageMaker 6.5 software. Concepts, page layout, merging graphics and text, scaling graphics, using lines and boxes and mixing font styles and sizes to produce business correspondence and other forms of written communication. (F,S)

 

OT 215 Spreadsheet Applications - 3 credits (prerequisite TECH 115)
Spreadsheet Applications is a course utilizing Microsoft Excel 2000. This course includes command sequences, formulas for business templates, using ranges effectively, preprogrammed spreadsheet functions, and automating commands. (F,S,SU)

 

OT 217 PowerPoint Applications - 3 credits
(prerequisite OT 206, OT 209, OT 215 or instructor permission)
A comprehensive advanced class designed to improve and develop advanced skills in PowerPoint presentations utilizing MS PowerPoint 2000. (F,S)

 

OT 250 Office Management - 3 credits
Examines the science and art of supervision; organizing and delegating, time management, planning and writing objectives, evaluating performance, handling conflict, motivating employees, legal aspects of management, and assertive training. (F)
