Then a career in Health Information Management (HIM) is for you! As an HIM professional, you are an important part of the health care delivery system, and help steer the health care industry.

The areas of expertise for health information professionals involve providing critical information for patient care yet protecting it against unauthorized access, obtaining accurate reimbursement while ensuring compliance, and facilitating research and utilization. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the demand for Medical Record Technicians will continue to increase at a rate of 54 percent through 2010. Significant opportunities are available for HIM specialists with excellent salary and potential for career growth. Graduates are able to write the national examination for Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credentials.
