PSY 101 Introduction to Psychology - 3 credits
A comprehensive study of the basic concepts of psychology, history of psychological thought, and an overview of psychological theories with emphasis on practical information for healthy living skills.

 

PSY 250 Psychology of Child Development - 3 credits
The study of the normal physical, cognitive, and social development of children from conception to age eight.  Available On-line.

 

PSY 251 Developmental Psychology - 3 credits (prerequisite PSY 101)
A study of human development from birth to death; includes comprehensive study of cognitive, physical, and psychosocial development.

 

SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology - 3 credits
Addresses social organization, social interaction and social life.   Study of the sociological perspective, theories, and practical application.   Explores the foundations and essential components of sociology.

 

SOC 110 Social Environments of Children - 3 credits
The role of environmental factors, including home, school, community and culture and their impact on child development will be examined.

 

SOC 150 Culture and Diversity in Education - 2 credits
A study of the cultural influences in the lives of young children; includes culture definition and identification, cultural recognition and celebration.   Available On-line.
