CE 191 Cooperative Education Internships - 1-6 credits
|
Cooperative Education at UTTC is a
paid internship designed to get students into the work force
before graduation. It provides pre-professional, hands
on experience in any of the College's vocational areas.
With prior work experience, the student's degree becomes more
valuable when competing for jobs after graduation. Cooperative
Education is based on the philosophy that a combination of classroom
study and practical professional experience is the superior
method of education.

CHMA 102 Chemical Awareness - 1 credit

Combined lecture and discussion relating
to a comprehensive prevention program; topics include the effects
of chemical substance abuse and addictive behaviors on the body,
family and community as well as prevention, intervention, treatment,
and aftercare.

FOUN 107 College Success - 1 credit (required for 1st semester students)
|
A course designed to promote a successful
college experience both academically and personally; includes
development of practical knowledge and skills such as time management,
test taking, communications, study techniques, critical thinking,
community and campus resources, and managing personal issues.

FOUN 108 Success Strategies for Online Learners - 2 credits

This course is designed to promote a successful online college experience.
It includes development of practical knowledge and skills such as time management, communication,
study skills, critical thinking, and effective use of resources. (This course is intended for those
learners who intend to complete a degree online and not for campus-based learners.)

FOUN 207 Career Success - 2 credits

A course designed to prepare students
for a successful transition from academic to employment.
The course is divided into three parts, finding a job, keeping
a job, and leadership qualities on the job. Students must
enroll in this required course their final semester.

FOUN 209 Career Success - 2 credits (Course specific to healthcare students)

A course designed especially for students
in the health professions to prepare them for a successful transition
from academics to employment. Course is divided into three
parts: finding a job, keeping a job, and leadership qualities
required for the job.

PE 101 First Aid/CPR - 1 credit
|
The principles for First Aid/CPR as
outlined by the standard Red Cross course.

PE 102 Introduction to Fitness - 1 credit
|
Introduction to Fitness will consist
of basic health-related information such as stretching, motor
skills, nutrition, cardiovascular conditioning and overall physical
fitness.

PE 103 Weight Training - 1 credit
|
The course will consist of individualized
weight training. The students will be able to work at
their own pace with a set lifting/workout program. Participants
will be given the basic fundamentals of weight lifting.

PE 105 Aerobics - 1 credit
|
High and low impact aerobics; calisthenics
and stretching set to music; tone muscles, strengthen heart
and lungs, develop flexibility, and improve self-esteem.

PE 106 Introduction to Lifetime Sports - 1 credit
|
This course focuses on the more common lifetime sports
which promote a healthy lifestyle with continued participation.

PE 111 Health, Safety and Nutrition - 3 credits
|
This course presents a study of the critical issues of health, safety and nutrition of
young children. The important role of promoting good healthy attitudes and practices and creating safe and
healthy environments is stressed. The course includes a comprehensive overview of basic nutrition and
the critical value of good nutrition in the development of young children.
