CJ 101 Introduction to Law Enforcement - 3 credits
|
A course that provides an understanding
of the "dual system of justice" in the United States
and an overview of the criminal justice process from arrest to
parole. The last four units covered are a review of the
Tribal Court system.

CJ 102 Accident Investigation - 3 credits
|
The circumstances encountered in accident
investigation and the recommended procedure to complete a thorough
investigation; field training included.

CJ 103 Police Report Writing - 3 credits
|
The study of reports used in law enforcement,
filing techniques, and procedures.

|
CJ 104 Traffic Law - 3 credits
|
Introduction to traffic control, traffic
laws, driver/pedestrian behavior, methods and techniques used
in violator detection for accident reduction.

CJ 105 Criminal Investigation - 3 credits
|
This course covers the rules of evidence,
preservation of evidence, and investigative techniques.

CJ 150 Patrol Procedures - 3 credits
|
The fundamentals behind policing, the
personal side of law enforcement, and the actual operations.
Students must have a valid driver's license. Criminal
Justice students only.

CJ 160 Weapons/Physical Fitness Training - 3 credits
|
The study and practice in the use of a .357, 9mm,
and .40 caliber handguns, police shotgun and rifle leading to proficiency; fitness
training needed to pass the Physical Fitness Training test used by police departments.

CJ 208 Police Photography - 3 credits
|
The use and operation of a 35mm camera,
the developing process, and the use of photography in law enforcement.

CJ 215 Police/Community Relations - 3 credits
|
An examination of the attitude of the police
and community toward each other; an exploration into those factors that help
develop mutual understanding and support between the police and the public.

CJ 222 Police Administration - 3 credits
|
Administration of police line operations
including patrol, investigation, juvenile, traffic, and special
operational units.

CJ 230 Criminal Law - 3 credits
|
Study of the general classification
of crimes with emphasis on the fourteen major crimes and their
elements as listed in the State Century Code.

CJ 235 Internship - 1-3 credits
|
Supervised opportunity for qualified students
to explore certain areas of law enforcement; limited openings; CJ elective.

CJ 254 Juvenile Justice - 3 credits
|
The juvenile justice system: history,
diversion, officer contact, court process, question of delinquency,
measurement and theory.
