The Automotive Services Technology (AST) program
provides the practical and technical skills needed to enter the automotive
repair job market, continue a course of study in the field, or pursue
a career such as auto specialist line technician, service manager, shop
foreman, or owner.
Automobile technicians face a challenging future in
the automotive field due to the increased complexity of the electronic
controlled components; and each year the models that manufacturers produce
must meet the public demand for better fuel economy and controlled emissions.
The United Tribes Technical College automotive training facility is
equipped with state-of-the-art equipment used in major dealership and
repair facilities.
Summer training sessions are required by the program
to allow students to meet the minimum hours of training required by
the National Automotive Technicians
Education Foundation (NATEF). Upon completion of the hours of each
course the students are qualified to take the Automotive Service Excellence
(ASE) certification test which is a nationally recognized technician
certification.
